Nine men fell critically ill in Batu Niah, Sarawak, Malaysia, after drinking alcohol combined with a locally known beverage called “juice” at a nightclub.
One victim reportedly later succumbed to his condition, according to See Hua Daily News.
The incident happened on Saturday (19 Sept) afternoon.
Several members of the group began feeling severely ill shortly after drinking the beverage.
They then collapsed and lost consciousness.

Venue staff who noticed the men’s conditions immediately contacted emergency services.
Rescue teams were dispatched, and the victims were taken to hospital for treatment.
Seven of the men were sent to Miri Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive one of the victims.
However, he was later pronounced dead.
Two others were transferred to Bintulu Hospital and remain in the intensive care unit (ICU) for further monitoring.

The remaining six men are receiving medical treatment and are reported to be under observation.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what caused the men to fall ill, including whether the “juice” had been mixed with illegal substances, toxic ingredients, or other harmful additives.
Police have yet to release details on the identities of those involved or whether any arrests have been made.
Further updates are expected after medical and toxicology examinations are completed.
