Walk-Ins Allowed For All Ages At Covid-19 Vaccination Centres From 4 Jan, No Appointment Needed

Walk-Ins At Vaccination Centres Allowed From 4 Jan, Longer Wait Times Expected On Saturdays

While the Covid-19 situation in Singapore has stabilised significantly, we must continue to take precautions against the virus.

From Wednesday (4 Jan), individuals can walk into any Joint Testing and Vaccination Centre (JTVC) to get their vaccinations. No prior appointment will be needed.

Besides that, the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine will be available for children aged six months to four years from 16 Jan.

Vaccination centres allow walk-ins from 4 Jan

The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced that everyone can walk in and get their Covid-19 vaccines and boosters from Wednesday (4 Jan).

This can be done at any JTVC or Children Vaccination Centre (CVC) from Mondays to Saturdays.

However, a longer waiting period should be expected on days when demand is high, such as Saturdays.

Those taking their Covid-19 vaccinations at polyclinics and Public Health Preparedness Clinics would still need to make appointments.

This is with the exception of seniors aged 80 years and above for polyclinics.

Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty available to young children

From 16 Jan, the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine will be offered to children aged six months to four years.

This is limited to two vaccine centres — JTVC Ang Mo Kio and JTVC Bukit Merah.

On 6 Dec 2022, the Expert Committee on Covid-19 Vaccination recommended the vaccine be administered to the age group as their primary vaccination series. It is an alternative to the Moderna/Spikevax vaccine.

Both JTVCs will also offer the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine for children aged five to 11.

For children taking this vaccine, three doses will be needed. This should be taken eight weeks apart, over 16 weeks.

The Moderna/Spikevax vaccine only requires two doses taken over eight weeks.

This means those taking the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine will need more vaccination visits and a longer period to achieve optimal protection.

Do note that a parent or guardian must accompany all children aged 12 and below on their vaccination day.

Their identification document would be required for verification.

MOH stresses the importance of vaccinations

MOH reminds Singapore residents that vaccinations remain crucial in protecting our population from Covid-19.

The ministry also encouraged all parents and guardians to get children vaccinated against the virus.

This will allow them to be well protected against severe disease and hospitalisation should they get infected.

Eligible individuals can find their nearest vaccination sites here.
