Earlier this month, a woman in Thailand made accusations online that a motorcycle taxi had taken her through an isolated area before sexually harassing her. The post quickly went viral, drawing sympathy from observers online.
However, the motorcycle taxi in question disputed the story, clarifying what happened on the night of the incident.
According to Khaosod, the woman’s sister has since contacted the motorcyclist and asked him to meet them at the police station to negotiate further.
The woman accused the motorcycle taxi rider of sexual harassment in the original post on 13 July, according to screenshots circulating online. The account that made the posts has since been deleted.

In the post, the woman claims that she had hailed a motorcycle taxi to get back to her hotel after attending a Jay B concert. She alleges that the motorcyclist took her down an isolated road and began rubbing her thighs.
Shocked by the sudden act, she tried to record it using her phone before hopping off the motorcycle while it was moving to get away. She also shared photos of what she described as a hospital room after she headed to one to get her injuries stitched up.
The story drew much attention online, with Jay B, the artist she had just gone to see, even commenting on her post to ask if she was alright.

However, on 20 July, a series of posts on X disputed her claims and provided security camera footage as evidence.

In the footage, the motorcycle taxi rider drops off the woman, uninjured, at her hotel before they begin negotiating the fare. She then entered the hotel without incident.
The motorcyclist explained that he had taken a fairly well-known shortcut to cut the travel distance down from 8km to 2km.
This subsequently also reduced her fare. At the time, she had even given him a small tip, which he was very grateful for. He was not aware that she would later falsely accuse him of harassment online.

On 21 July, he met with the woman’s sister at the police station to negotiate. She claims that the woman had a history of mental illness, which led to her accusations. She hoped for his forgiveness. The motorcycle taxi rider said that as long as she tells the truth, he would be okay with the outcome.
Later that day, another X user claiming to be the woman apologised for the false claims. The post has since garnered over 2 million views.
