In a twist of events, a 35-year-old woman in India has been murdered by the hitman she had hired to kill her own daughter.
According to The Times of India, the woman’s body was discovered by police in a field in Uttar Pradesh on 6 Oct.
Her husband had reported her missing when she failed to come home.
The mother and daughter’s troubles started a few months ago when the latter eloped with her lover.
Disturbed by this behavior, the woman decided to send the 17-year-old to her grandparents’ home.
While there, the 17-year-old began talking to a man she met, spending long hours on the phone with him.
Unfortunately for the two, the young girl’s uncle soon noticed the phone calls and asked her mother to take her home.
Furious over the embarrassment her daughter caused her, the woman reportedly decided to kill her own child.
She contacted 38-year-old Subhash Singh on 27 Sept and offered him ₹50,000 (S$775) to kill the young girl.
Unbeknownst to the woman, Subhash was the man who had recently enamoured her daughter.
After receiving the offer, the hitman informed his lover, who then convinced him to murder her mother in exchange for her hand in marriage.
As part of the plan to lure the woman to a secluded spot, Subhash faked photos of the young girl’s murder and sent them to her mother.
He then arranged a meeting with the woman, so she could make the promised payment.
When they met, he instead revealed the truth, and then strangled her to death with help from her daughter.
Navbharat Times reported that Subhash was a resident and a carpenter at the village where the teen had stayed with her grandparents.
He had just returned from serving a 10-year sentence in a rape case.
Police arrested Subhash and the teen on 9 Oct. The former confessed to the murder under interrogation.
