Woman trapped under bus at Queen Street Bus Terminal, extracted by SCDF

A 30-year-old woman died on Tuesday (6 Oct) night after being involved in an accident with a bus at Queen Street Bus Terminal in Bugis.

A photo of the aftermath posted in a Facebook group for border crossers showed police officers and others holding a white tarp next to the front of a Causeway Link bus that had stopped in the middle of the terminal.

Police blue tent set up next to bus

In other photos posted by SG Road Vigilante on Facebook, the police and a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) fire engine and ambulance were at the scene.

SCDF personnel were seen crawling underneath the bus, which was running service CW2.

Later, a police blue tent was set up next to the bus, indicating the presence of a dead body.

Accident at Queen Street Bus Terminal delays bus service

In a Facebook post at 9.19pm on Tuesday night, SBS Transit said its service 170, which operates from Queen Street Bus Terminal, had been delayed.

It would not operate from the terminal due to an accident, added the public transport operator.

Passengers who wanted to board at the terminal were told to use a temporary shelter, while those alighting had to get off at a bus stop along Ophir Road.

SBS staff were on site to assist.

At 11.50pm, SBS said service 170 had returned to normal operations.

 

Woman pronounced dead after being freed by SCDF

In response to queries from The Straits Times (ST), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it was alerted to the accident at about 7pm on Tuesday.

A 30-year-old woman was found trapped under a bus at Queen Street Bus Terminal.

The SCDF, which was alerted at the same time, said she was released using hydraulic rescue equipment.

However, she was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

Additionally, a 32-year-old bus driver was arrested for driving without due care and attention causing death.

Police investigations are ongoing.
