A group of women in Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam, was filmed allegedly verbally abusing and assaulting a taxi driver during an early morning dispute, prompting a police investigation.
The incident happened at around 2am on 30 Aug after a group of six female passengers travelled by taxi from Mong Cai 2 Ward to a bar in Mong Cai 1 Ward.
The group reportedly included several young women and a young man who appeared to be drunk.
Dashcam footage from inside the taxi showed the vehicle carrying more passengers than its allowed capacity, with occupants squeezed into the available seats.
Two female passengers seated in the front were seen arguing with the driver and shouting at him. One was also seen holding a sandal.

The situation later escalated when a passenger in the back seat allegedly grabbed the driver’s hair and pulled his head backwards. Other passengers were also seen joining the confrontation.
According to Van Hoa, the driver, whom attackers were assaulting, repeatedly shouted “Robbery!” before opening the vehicle door and escaping.

The videos spread widely online, prompting Mong Cai 1 Ward Police to launch an investigation.
Nguyen Thanh Hai, chairman of the Mong Cai 1 Ward People’s Committee, confirmed that authorities were aware of the incident and that the victim’s family had filed a report with the police.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quang Tien, chief of Mong Cai 1 Ward Police, said officers were verifying the identities of those involved and calling individuals in for questioning.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the dispute and checking whether anyone committed any offences.
