Last Sunday (4 Aug) at 10.27pm, a brown male dog was knocked down by a taxi near the junction of Woodlands Avenue 8 along Admiralty Road West.
It was classified as a hit-and-run case when the taxi driver did not stop to assist the poor doggo. The police are currently investigating the case.
To assist in the investigations, SPCA is appealing for information on the accident. Here’s what they posted on their Facebook wall.
Attached to the post was a heart-wrenching video of the accident, submitted by a driver who managed to capture it on his dashcam. Viewer discretion is advised as the clip will be extremely disturbing, especially to animal lovers.

We analysed the video and here’s a breakdown of what we saw.
The dog was first seen attempting to cross the busy road where his doggo pal was waiting for him at the other side.
Halfway through, the dog noticed an approaching car so it decided to retreat back to safety.
Unfortunately, it was too late as the approaching taxi then knocked down the poor doggo down, throwing it further along the road.
At that moment, its doggo pal who was waiting for him to cross the junction saw the accident and dashed towards the injured dog.
The driver who witnessed the accident immediately called the SPCA, and the dog was subsequently brought back to the clinic by a rescue officer.
The dog was then found to be paralysed at his hind area with its spine seemingly fractured in the X-ray conducted by SPCA’s vet team.
According to the Facebook post, the Road Traffic Act states that drivers who run over a dog and fail to stop and render assistance can face a fine of up to S$3000, or a jail term of up to 1 year.
Therefore, to aid in police investigations, SPCA is appealing for the taxi driver to step forward, and hopefully get some information from the taxi company.
They are also looking for eye-witnesses, especially the driver in this silver van.
Should you have any information, contact SPCA at 6287 5355, Ext 9, or email inspector@spca.org.sg.
SPCA promises that all information provided to them will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
While investigations are still ongoing, we hope that the poor dog will recuperate well and continue to live happily.
We urge for our readers to help spread awareness on the incident by sharing this post.
May justice be brought to the injured doggo.
