The Ministry of Manpower (MOM), replying to MS News‘ queries, confirmed that the accident occurred at a private residential property along Cranborne Road at about 2.30pm that day.
The deceased was an employee of Soh & Tan Enterprises Pte Ltd who was conducting tree-felling works at the property when the tree toppled at its base.
This caused him to fall together with the tree.
He succumbed to his injuries at TTSH.
MOM is investigating the incident, it said, noting that before tree-felling works start, employers should ensure that the tree and work methods is suitably assessed as a general safety measure.
The work should also be carried out by trained workers in accordance with established safe-work procedures.
Soh & Tan Enterprises has been instructed to cease all tree-felling activities involving tree climbing, pending investigations.
