You may have walked past or even stopped for a meal at Bari Bari Steak at Tampines 1, Junction 8, or VivoCity, known for its sizzling steaks served on hot stones.
Now, the Hong Kong cult teppan brand is going more premium with Bari Bari Grand, a refined take on the familiar concept that opened at The Capitol Kempinski on 9 Aug.

Exclusive to the restaurant are dishes you won’t find at its regular outlets, from award-winning beef and lobster to a wider selection of steak and seafood.
And there’s an extra reason to visit this week: to celebrate its opening, Bari Bari Grand is rolling out a handful of limited-time dining deals for five days only.
Mention Miyazaki Wagyu, and beautifully marbled beef may immediately come to mind, along with a rather eye-watering bill.
Bari Bari Grand serves A4/A5 Miyazaki Wagyu, a four-time consecutive winner of the top Prime Minister’s Award at Japan’s National Competitive Exhibition of Wagyu, aka the “Wagyu Olympics”.
There are four cuts to choose from, including the rare, intensely marbled Miyazaki Wagyu Zabuton, of which each cow reportedly yields only around 3kg to 4kg.

The good news is that getting a taste of it doesn’t have to hurt your wallet quite as much. From 1 to 5 Sept, the 150g Miyazaki Wagyu Zabuton, usually priced at S$68, is going at 30% off.

Since steak dinners are always better with company, this is also the week to call up your BFF.
During the same five-day period, Bari Bari Grand is offering 1-for-1 on selected teppan dishes, including the Australian Angus Sirloin Steak, Wagyu Hamburg, other Protein Teppans, and Combo Teppans.

Do note that other Steak Teppans, as well as Lobster and Lobster Combo items, are excluded from the 1-for-1 promotion.
The complimentary dish will be of equal or lower value, and both opening promotions are available for dine-in only, while stocks last.
There are savings to be had beyond the five-day opening promotion, too.
Over at the alfresco Bari Bari Social, Happy Hour runs all day, every day, with Japanese oysters at S$3 each, house wine at S$7 per glass instead of S$12, and a 720ml bottle of the sake of the month at S$70, down from S$120.
So even if you miss the opening specials, there’s still an excuse to swing by for oysters and a tipple.
Promotions are always welcome, but there are also days when you simply feel like treating yourself or a loved one, be it for a birthday, anniversary, or simply surviving a particularly tough week.
For those occasions, Bari Bari Grand has more premium options to splurge on, including several Miyazaki Wagyu cuts and lobster dishes.
Besides the aforementioned Zabuton, you can choose from the Ribeye Round (S$75), Sirloin (S$68), and Rib Cap (S$88), the most decadent of the lot.

The beef is first seared on an iron griddle before arriving on a high-density stone from Japan heated to up to 300°C, so you can continue cooking each piece to your preferred doneness if rare isn’t your thing.

For something made for sharing, there’s also an approximately 1.5kg Tomahawk (S$18 per 100g), which serves four to six people and requires three days’ advance order.

Seafood gets plenty of attention as well. The Lobster Teppan (S$69) sees the crustacean cooked with cheese for a thermidor-like richness, while other picks include the Salmon Mentaiko (S$28) and Gindara Teriyaki (S$32).

Groups can go bigger with the Seafood Platter (S$288), loaded with Aka Ebi, King Crab, Hokkaido Scallops, and Japanese Oysters.
It serves four to six people and, like the Tomahawk, requires three days’ advance order.

And if reading all that has only made it harder to choose between steak and seafood, there’s no need to pick a side.
Several dishes pair the two, including the Lobster & Wagyu Hamburg Steak Teppan (S$49), which comes with lobster and a house-made Japanese wagyu hamburg steak.

To make your meal a little more substantial, every main course or teppan set comes with complimentary access to Bari Bari Grand’s free-flow Gourmet Bar.

The rotating spread includes crisp greens, chef salads, artisanal sides such as tuna tataki, rice, and other carbs, plus desserts such as warabi mochi and matcha tiramisu.
There’s also a line-up of sauces and seasonings to pair with your steak, including Signature Bari Bari Sauce, Miyazaki Yakiniku Sauce, Premium Okinawa Salt, Yuzu Onion Sauce, and Wasabi Sauce.
