Commuters on an MRT train from Jurong East on Saturday (24 Oct) were treated to a young boy mimicking the MRT announcements in every language.
While some expressed annoyance, many netizens actually praised the boy’s impressive skills.
TikTok user Safwan posted the video on 24 Oct, featuring the boy standing up on a seat beside him as the train pulled into Clementi MRT station.
“Clementi!” The boy declared, right after the automated announcement sounded.

“Please mind the platform gap,” he said in sync with the announcement, before repeating it in Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil.
Safwan, 16, told MS News that the encounter occurred at around 1.30pm on 24 Oct.
He was travelling on the train from Boon Lay. Subsequently, at Jurong East MRT station, the boy and his parents got on the train.
“Upon boarding, the child jumped onto a seat and appeared excited,” Safwan said.

He told MS News that the boy mimicked the train announcements in all four languages before the family alighted three stops later at Buona Vista.
Safwan initially seemed annoyed at the boy’s mimicry while standing next to him, writing in text, “This gon be a long ride.”

However, he clarified with MS News that he wasn’t actually annoyed, as he had “seen worse”.
“I was impressed by the child’s apparent ability to memorise and mimic the announcements in all four languages,” he explained.
“[The] lil geezer’s got talent,” Safwan also wrote as the TikTok caption. The video gained over 52,400 likes and 293 comments at press time.
Commenters were split between being impressed and annoyed. Many also praised the boy for nailing the various languages.

Safwan said he was not surprised at the boy’s behaviour either, telling MS News that “children will be children”.
He also claimed that the boy’s parents were seated elsewhere in the train carriage during the ride.
However, they also allegedly did not tell the boy to sit down or stop him from mimicking the MRT train announcements.
