Drivers & passengers from both car & taxi sent to hospital after Keppel Road accident

UPDATE (28 Aug, 11.16am): ComfortDelGro said the other vehicle had collided with its limousine taxi from behind along Keppel Road. The cabby and passenger were promptly conveyed to hospital for medical attention.

The company is in contact with both parties to provide support and is also fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation, a ComfortDelGro spokesperson noted.

Four people were sent to the hospital on Wednesday (26 Aug) morning after an accident involving a car and taxi along Keppel Road.

Photos of the aftermath showed that the limousine taxi had mounted the kerb and crashed into a traffic light, knocking it askew.

Other photos depicted a black car stopped in the middle of the junction of Keppel Road and Kampong Bahru Road, with a police motorcycle next to it.

The car, identified by netizens as a Mercedes-Benz C-Class, had sustained significant damage to its bonnet, with its hood having completely come off.

Nearby, an ambulance was seen together with a vehicle from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

2 from car & 2 from taxi sent to SGH

In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it was alerted to the accident at about 9am on 26 Aug.

It took place at the junction of Keppel Road, in the direction of the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), and Kampong Bahru Road, and involved a car and taxi.

 

Four people were sent to the hospital in a conscious state:

  • A 65-year-old female taxi driver
  • A 46-year-old female taxi passenger
  • A 58-year-old male car driver
  • A 51-year-old female car passenger

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told MS News that they were all conveyed to Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

Police investigations are ongoing.
