A customer who patronised a restaurant in City Plaza has claimed that a rude staff snapped at her after she asked for change. The incident reportedly left her so upset that she lost her appetite.
The Original Poster (OP) shared her experience on the Complaint Singapore Facebook group on 14 Sept, saying it happened the day before.
In the post, she recounted that she was “starving” and queued “for a long time” at the restaurant.
When it was her turn to order, the OP ordered a chicken set priced at S$7.90. However, when she went to pay, the staff told her that the “new price” was S$9.90.

“I had no problem with that,” the OP said, while adding that the “real issue was her attitude”.
The issue arose when she paid S$10 and asked politely whether she would be receiving any change.
The OP alleged that the staff then snapped at her, saying: “Can you sit down first? We’ll call your name when your food is ready.”
When her food was ready, the OP said she asked for her change again, but was ignored after asking twice.
She said she eventually asked more firmly but the staff allegedly shouted at her.
In an update to her post, she shared that she did receive her change eventually, but claimed it was handed to her “very rudely”.

The OP also acknowledged that by then she was angry and had yelled at the staff.
She also shared that she had witnessed the same staff behaving similarly towards other customers, and allegedly not giving them change too.
“This is not about 10 cents. This is about attitude,” she said, adding that she hoped the restaurant owner would see her post and provide better staff training.
One netizen felt that the staff was trying to “scam customers in broad daylight”.

Another commenter agreed, saying that the restaurant staff may be lying about the real price of the dish.

A Facebook user said that pocketing S$2.10 each time is more profitable than recycling cans and bottles.

Another netizen shared that they also came across the same rude staff before, and that they stopped patronising the restaurant after.
