A car was left underneath a fallen tree in Clementi West during heavy rain on 27 Sept.

TikTok user @crystalnhy shared a video of the aftermath on 2 Oct, captioning it: “Having a bad day? At least you’re not the owner of this car.”

The tree appeared to have been uprooted and fallen onto the parked car.

Speaking to MS News, the Original Poster (OP) said that she noticed the incident at a block in Clementi West at around 11.30am on 27 Sept.

The incident occurred during a period of heavy rain and strong winds.

The OP did not provide further details on whether anyone was injured or the extent of damage to the vehicle.

According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), the second half of September was expected to be rainy, according to an advisory published on 16 Sept.

NEA said that during the second half of September, which is when the fallen tree was spotted, “Southwest Monsoon conditions [were] prevailing over Singapore and the surrounding region and are expected to continue.”

The video prompted some netizens to ask practical questions about what happens when a tree falls on a vehicle.

One asked whether insurance would cover such damage.

The OP told MS News she was not sure if the police or Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were called.

In response to media enquiries from MS News, the SCDF said it was likely not called for this incident.

It also was not established whether the tree’s fall was officially attributed to weather conditions.
