Coffee Bean Uses China Navy Uniform In SAF Promo Ad; Apologises For Mistake

Coffee Bean Apologises For Using Picture Of Chinese Navy Soldier

SAF Day, which falls on 1 Jul, is fast approaching and countless shops are offering promotions and deals to thank those who help defend our country.

But The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf – one of the participating establishment this year – got their marketing ad horribly wrong.

Here’s the poster that they recently shared on Facebook. Spot anything strange about it?

Coffee Bean uses China Navy uniform in SAF Day ad

On first glance, nothing seems amiss, even for those who have donned the SAF green.

But stare long enough, and you’ll find that the solider in the ad is wearing a rather odd and almost ‘alien’ military outfit.

Now, we’ll save you the trouble of googling for army uniforms across the world. That’s the uniform of the People’s Liberation Army Navy AKA China’s naval forces right there.

Coffee Bean has since apologised for the blunder and has taken down the “incorrect” artwork from their Facebook page.

Select images more carefully

Though this is a rather major mistake on Coffee Bean’s part, 50% off any ice-blended drinks remains a rather attractive promotion.

We hope that they’ve learnt their lesson and that they, as well as other establishments, will curate their images more carefully in the future.
