Singapore confirms 23 new Covid-19 cases today (22 Mar) according to an update by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
In a consistent pattern, majority of them are imported, with 18 being individuals who had entered from other countries.
However, only 1 is a short-term visitor, with the rest being returning residents or long-term pass holders.
This means that Singapore now has a record of 455 Covid-19 cases so far.
The MOH press release stated that the 18 imported cases had been to countries in Europe, North America, South America and ASEAN.
The countries and number of patients who had visited them are as follows:
Of the 3 local cases, 1 has links to the boulder+ Gym cluster, while 2 are linked to separate, previous cases.
MOH has yet to find any links for 1 other case.
4 more patients have recovered, bringing the total discharge count to 144. 14 are in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Despite new travel restrictions on short-term visitors, Singapore can expect a further rise in imported cases with many residents returning from other countries.
Nonetheless, we hope that constant updates on precautionary measures, and greater social awareness will help to stop the spread of the virus.
