A security guard working in the industrial estate said the deceased was a female cyclist.
He had been alerted of the accident while on patrol and rushed to the scene, only to find it cordoned off.
He was told that a Chinese woman had been knocked down by a large vehicle, which allegedly left the scene without stopping.
A migrant worker who was nearby also confirmed that he did not see the heavy vehicle stop after the accident, but was not certain whether the driver intentionally did not stop or did not realise that he had hit someone.
He noted that the industrial estate saw frequent traffic from large vehicles, some of which travelled at high speeds.
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it was alerted to the accident at about 10.10am on 1 Oct.
It took place at the junction of Defu Avenue 1 and Defu Lane 7, and involved a bicycle and a trailer.
A 62–year-old female cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
As for the trailer, its driver left the scene before the police arrived.
The 43-year-old man was subsequently arrested for careless driving causing death.
Police investigations are ongoing.
