A woman from Singapore said her 19-month-old daughter kept pointing at seemingly empty corners during a holiday in the Philippines.
While that doesn’t seem like anything out of the ordinary, it was what her daughter uttered that made things spooky.
The young child would say “baby” every time she pointed.
29-year-old business owner Pau first shared about her experience in a TikTok post on 24 Aug.
She claimed that her daughter had started pointing at “random corners and places” and saying “baby” since the start of the Chinese seventh month.
Pau added that her daughter understands what the word means, and uses it to describe herself and other children.
According to her, the first incident happened at around 2am on the first day of the Hungry Ghost Festival, while the family was on holiday in the Philippines.
Pau shared that her daughter had pointed towards a corner of their room and said “baby” repeatedly.
At the time, the family were staying at a relative’s house.
She initially wondered if a toy, a doll, or something else in the corner had caught her daughter’s attention. However, there was nothing there.
“I was so freaked out,” she said, adding that her daughter continued saying “baby” several times.
Pau said a similar incident also happened later at a car park.
Her daughter again pointed towards an area where there appeared to be no one and said “baby”.
She admitted that the incidents have made her nervous, especially because they coincided with the Chinese seventh month period.

“I know it’s seventh month here but I didn’t expect to experience it there,” she said.
She then jokingly said that she might need to get a crystal bracelet for “protection”.
In response to her story, netizens have come forth with suggestions on how to protect both mother and child.
One commenter recommended “protective stones” such as “Black Tourmaline or Black Obsidian”.

While another netizen who claims to be a crystal seller echoed the recommendations, she also urged Pau to “get some blessings” for her baby from religious institutions.

Speaking to MS News, Pau said the incident happened on 15 Aug in Batangas, Philippines.
She shared that she was terrified when her daughter pointed at a corner and said “baby”.
“I was scared! I put her arm down but she pointed and did it again,” she said.
When asked whether it had happened again since returning to Singapore, Pau said: “Yes, it happened recently in Singapore, once so far.”
She also shared that she had since purchased a crystal bracelet from Cheru Crystals.
