The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has caught eight drivers providing illegal cross-border ride-hailing services at Singapore’s land checkpoints and the Changi area.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday (26 Aug), LTA said all eight vehicles were impounded following enforcement operations.

The authority said the operations were conducted following regular tip-offs from the National Private Hire Vehicles Association and National Taxi Association.
Drivers caught providing illegal ride-hailing services may face fines of up to S$3,000 and/or six months’ jail.
Their vehicles may also be forfeited.

LTA has stepped up enforcement against illegal cross-border ride-hailing services in recent months.
On 4 Aug, authorities said 11 drivers had been caught, and their vehicles impounded.
On 21 July, 16 other drivers were caught by LTA.
A further seven drivers were caught during enforcement operations announced on 22 June.
LTA went on to mention that it had checked more than 5,000 vehicles as part of ongoing enforcement efforts since July 2025.

LTA reminded commuters to use licensed services when travelling between Singapore and Johor.
Passengers can book a licensed cross-border ride-hailing service on Grab, or take a Singapore-registered cross-border taxi.
The taxis can pick up passengers anywhere in Singapore and drop them off in Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Forest City, Kulai and Senai.

Members of the public can report suspected illegal ride-hailing activities through LTA’s online reporting channel.
