Teacher allegedly yells at delivery driver in Singapore for wrong McDonald’s order, gets driver suspended for three days

Recently, a teacher allegedly yelled at a delivery driver for getting the wrong order, causing the driver to be suspended for three days.

Although the driver attempted to explain his side, the teacher continued to raise his voice while recording a video of the driver.

In an exclusive with MS News, the Original Poster (OP) shared his unfortunate experience.

Although he has faced tough customers in the past, the customer’s attitude was one of the “worst” he has seen.

Customer claims he was given wrong order

In a post on Complaint Singapore on (23 Aug), the OP shared that the customer ordered McDonald’s from the Shell Hougang outlet via foodpanda.

The incident happened on 22 Aug at around 1pm to 2pm.

According to the OP, the customer is allegedly a teacher from Alliance Education Centre @Kensington Square.

Upon arriving at the drop-off location, the customer accused the OP of taking “1 hour and 30 minutes”.

In addition, the customer complained that the order was wrong.

The OP shared with MS News that the total delivery time on his end was around “15 minutes to 20 minutes”.

Following that, the customer “started raising his voice” at the OP.

In response, the OP replied that he was the only delivery guy and the issue should be taken to the vendor.

A new part-time employee at McDonald’s was working that day

Apparently, many riders had cancelled the order before the OP eventually received the order about 15 minutes later.

When the OP went to pick up at McDonald’s, he was confused by the different bags placed on the table.

Apparently, there was a new part-time worker at the McDonald’s outlet.

The OP stated: “I showed him the two orders I was collecting, and he handed me five to six McDonald’s bags and told me it was ready to go.”

Speaking to MS News, the OP said that he called the police but they were unable to resolve the situation.

As a result, the OP was deducted and suspended for three days.

He told MS News: “My money got deducted and got suspended for three days, making me lose almost S$700 to S$800 of income.”

Went back to McDonald’s to dispute

The OP said that he would have been “willing to go back and resolve it” if there was a genuine mistake.

However, he felt there was no need for the customer to have shouted and spoken to him in such a disrespectful manner.

We are delivery riders simply doing our jobs. Earning a few dollars does not mean we deserve to be treated like this.

The OP clarified that he returned to McDonald’s, but the new employee had already left by then.

OP provided feedback to foodpanda

In the same post, the OP shared some screenshots of his feedback to foodpanda regarding the incident.

While the OP gave feedback about the customer’s rude attitude, the agent advised the customer to reach out to the Help Center as payment had been made.

Because of the customer, the OP lost three to four days’ worth of income.

Through this incident, he hoped for more graciousness and respect towards delivery drivers.

Speaking to MS News, the OP said: “We are not for customers to shout at, be rude to, blamed at if the vendor gave the wrong order. We are just doing our job to deliver.”
