The incident quickly garnered criticism online, with many questioning why the store did not intervene.

One commenter expressed frustration over why the store staff did not remove the woman.

Translation: Why did the store not remove the woman? This is on the store employees because they have the right to decline service and remove customers from the premises, but they neglected their duties.

Thai PM concerned over tourist behavior

The incident comes amid growing concerns over the behaviour of tourists in Thailand.

On 6 May, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul pledged to tighten oversight of tourist conduct following a series of public sex incidents at popular destinations like Pattaya and Phuket.

At least four cases of public indecency have been reported this year, including two couples who were deported for engaging in public sex at the beach and in a moving tuk tuk.

Earlier this week, eight Chinese nationals were also caught filming a drama series without a permit while visiting Thailand on tourist visas.
