A 33-year-old woman in Hong Kong died after being attacked by a dog at the pet boarding facility she operated in Ta Kwu Ling.
The 30kg mixed-breed dog had arrived at the licensed pet hotel and canine training centre just 10 days earlier, where it was being housed while awaiting adoption.
According to The Standard, the dog was subsequently handed over to Hong Kong’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) for examination as police continue investigating the incident.
Police received a report at 4.11pm on 20 Aug that a woman had been found unconscious on the lawn of the facility at Ping Yeung Village.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but she was pronounced dead shortly after.

The victim, surnamed Wong, was the licensed person-in-charge of the premises and the only staff member there when the incident occurred.
CCTV footage reviewed by police showed Wong feeding the dog in an outdoor area at around 2pm.
She later tried to guide it back into its cage, but the dog refused to enter and attacked her instead.
The struggle then moved partly out of the camera’s view, with police saying the entire incident lasted about a minute.
Preliminary examinations found lacerations and bite wounds on Wong’s head, jaw, neck, and arms.
The six other dogs at the facility were inside their cages at the time and were not involved in the attack.
When rescuers arrived, the dog responsible was reportedly still nearby, circling the area.
An autopsy is being carried out to determine Wong’s exact cause of death.
The dog was a roughly one-year-old male mixed-breed weighing about 30kg.
It had been brought to the facility by an animal welfare volunteer on 11 Aug and was staying there while waiting to be adopted.
Before that, the dog had reportedly been cared for at a car park along Lok Ma Chau Road.
After the car park closed in April, it was temporarily looked after by an animal welfare volunteer before eventually being sent to the Ta Kwu Ling facility.

The AFCD said the dog had no previous record of attacking or biting people.
It has since been placed under observation, with authorities carrying out further examination as part of the investigation.
The facility itself had been operating since January 2026 and held a valid licence.
Friends have since identified the victim as Jojo Wong, who operated the pet hotel and canine training centre.
