In response to queries from MS News, SBS spokesperson Grace Wu said its Service 56 had stopped at a red traffic light along Beach Road on Wednesday afternoon when a man ran across the bus lane in an attempt to board.
At the time, the bus was in the fourth lane of a five-lane carriageway.
The bus captain declined to open the doors to let him board, in line with bus safety guidelines, as the location was not a designated boarding point.
He also advised the man to board the bus at the bus stop ahead.
However, the man stood in front of the bus and refused to move even after the traffic light had turned green, Mrs Wu said.
The police were thus contacted for assistance, and officers attended to the situation.
The bus resumed its journey some 15 minutes later.
