Masked hunks are giving out S$500 across S’pore. We find out what’s going on.

Masked hunks deliver Lazada purchases & challenge recipient to Rock, Paper, Scissors

If you’ve been on TikTok lately, you might have stumbled upon videos of delivery recipients opening their doors to masked men who look like they just stepped out of an intriguing reality TV show.

But don’t worry — nobody’s issuing any life-threatening challenges here. Instead, these mysterious figures come armed with an intense game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

The prize? A shot at winning up to S$500 in vouchers. Not too shabby for a little hand gesture showdown, if you ask us.

Turns out, this stunt is part of a Lazada hype campaign for its upcoming 12.12 sale. Well, it certainly caught our attention.

Up to S$500 up for grabs

The delivery experiences were captured and shared on Lazada’s TikTok in a series of clips that have gotten people buzzing.

In each video, unsuspecting customers are met by three masked individuals delivering their parcels — along with an irresistible challenge.

The customers are thrown into a children’s game (in this case, Rock, Paper, Scissors), where the stakes grow with every round.

Accepting the challenge alone earns the customer S$50. Win the first round, and it jumps to S$150. Keep going to reach S$250, and if they triumph in the final round, they walk away with the ultimate prize of S$500.

However, there’s a catch: lose at any point, and it’s game over — everything is forfeited. So players must decide whether to walk away with their current winnings or risk it all for a shot at the jackpot.

Suddenly, as if the delivery couldn’t get any more surprising, one of the deliverymen removes his mask to reveal an absolute heartthrob straight out of a squeal-inducing romcom.

It’s the perfect cherry on top for those who won the grand prize — or a cheeky consolation for those who lost it all in a blaze of glory.

Challenges extended island-wide leading up to 12.12

No need to worry about FOMO, because Lazada is bringing the challenge to everyone across the island.

Like in October, commuters may have noticed eye-catching ads popping up at MRT stations. This time, Lazada is offering a Rock, Paper, Scissors challenge — just like the ones seen in the viral TikTok clips — via its microsite.

You can access the microsite by scanning QR codes on the MRT ads or visiting the site directly to choose your move.

Winners who make the right move against the system (e.g. pick “Scissors” against “Paper”) will receive a voucher from Lazada, and just like the TikTok challenges, the stakes rise the more you play — up to S$100 in vouchers! — all the way until 11 Dec.

Sadly, there won’t be any surprise hunks to reveal, but the vouchers should make up for the lack of handsome faces.

Lazada 12.12 comes just in time for end-of-year splurging

If you’re wondering about the reasoning behind this unusual stunt (after all, it’s not every day your online shopping gets delivered by such unique characters), it’s all part of Lazada’s mission to deliver an all out experience ahead of its upcoming 12.12 All Out Sale.

This end-of-year period is the perfect time to go all out, whether it’s spoiling your loved ones with Christmas gifts or rewarding yourself after an eventful 2024. And Lazada is here to make that possible with unbeatable deals at the lowest prices.

So, even if you went a bit overboard during 11.11 or Black Friday, the 12.12 All Out Sale — happening from 11 Dec, 8pm to 17 Dec — ensures you’ll still have plenty to splurge on thoughtful gifts and indulge yourself — minus the guilt.

For more information and to try your luck, visit the microsite and don’t forget to follow Lazada on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for all the latest updates.
