Malaysian-registered bike rider goes against traffic in Tuas to take a shortcut

On Monday (14 Sept) morning, a Malaysian-registered motorbike rider rode against the flow of traffic along Tuas West Road.

A nearby vehicle’s dashcam captured the incident, which occurred at around 8am.

Motorcyclist drives on wrong side of the road

In a video posted on SG Road Vigilante’s Facebook page, a group of motorcyclists are seen approaching a traffic junction.

When the traffic light turns green, most of the riders turned right.

One motorcyclist, however, crosses the white line and rides onto the opposite side of the road instead.

Riding against traffic, the rider narrowly avoids the kerb before continuing along the wrong side of the road.

The motorcyclist continues riding against the flow of traffic and nearly collides with a group of riders before eventually returning to the correct side of the road.

Posing risk to others

Driving against the flow of traffic is illegal and can pose a serious risk to other road users.

In Singapore, motorists found guilty of offences involving driving against traffic may face a fine of S$200 and six demerit points.

More serious cases may result in higher fines or imprisonment, depending on the offence and circumstances.
