Netflix unveils new anime slate, including release dates for ‘Cyberpunk’ & ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ Season 2

Netflix reveals upcoming anime titles, including second season of ‘Cyberpunk’

Anime fans have plenty to look forward to, with Netflix adding several exciting new titles to its critically acclaimed line-up.

Earlier this week, the streaming platform released multiple trailers and fresh details for upcoming shows, including returning fan favourites such as ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2’ and the second season of ‘Blue Eye Samurai’.

Here are the titles coming to Netflix in the months ahead.

Second seasons for fan favourites

Ever since ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ was released, fans have been clamouring for more.

The original series, which launched in September 2022, was an instant hit, racking up 14,880,000 viewing hours within its first week and becoming one of the platform’s most-viewed non-English series.

The show went on to win multiple awards, but perhaps its most impressive achievement was helping to restore the reputation of the video game it was based on, whose release had been mired in controversy.

Netflix has now announced that the second season of the award-winning show will hit the platform on 20 Oct.

The 10-episode standalone series promises “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge”. The trailer can be seen here.

Meanwhile, ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ is also set to return to Netflix in early 2027, continuing the story that captivated fans when the historical anime series first premiered in 2023.

The second season will follow Mizu as she continues her quest in London, while Akemi and Taigen navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new Shogun. You can watch the trailer here.

New additions and upcoming household names

Beyond returning favourites, Netflix will also be introducing several new titles, including ‘Bass X Machina’.

Premiering on 3 Nov, the series will be set in a “lawless Steampunk West overrun by brutal outlaws, machines, and supernatural terrors”. Its trailer can be seen here.

The platform will also release an anime adaptation of the hit manga series ‘Fool Night’ on 26 Nov.

The series marks the first-ever collaboration between Sunrise, known for ‘Gundam’, and SHAFT, best known for the ‘Monogatari’ series and its distinctive visual style. The trailer can be viewed here.

‘Sakamoto Days’ is another returning favourite, with the action-comedy series set to come back for a second season in January 2027.

‘One Piece’ fans will also have two new releases to look forward to. First up is ‘LEGO ONE PIECE’, a two-part special arriving on 29 Sept.

Following that, ‘THE ONE PIECE’ will offer a fresh adaptation of the manga, starting from Chapter 1 of the East Blue saga.
