Finding a weekend activity can be tough for most Singaporeans. But come 28 to 30 Aug, you can shop, dine, and groove to some tunes while giving aid to a good cause.
From 5pm to 11pm, Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is transforming its event plaza into a vibrant waterfront carnival for the 12th edition of the Sands for Singapore Charity Festival.

Since 2013, the event has raised more than S$45 million for local charities.
This year, the event returns with a three-night programme featuring local artists, gourmet food pop-ups, interactive activities and a marketplace by local businesses.
On 28 Aug, the festival will open with a performance by festival headliner RRILEY.

The Singaporean artist first debuted as a founding member of local pop quartet The Sam Willows. She has performed at numerous festivals and events around the globe including the SXSW Festival in Texas, Ultra Singapore, and Summer Sonic in Japan.
Now, she is venturing as a solo artist and will be one of the main performers at the festival alongside local bands 53A, The Vibes, and SuperSonic.

RRILEY shares her excitement about the festival: “I’ve always believed that there’s something incredibly powerful about giving back and being part of something bigger than ourselves.”
Festival goers can also keep an eye out for the Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities (THKMC) Brave Hearts Ensemble, an inclusive performing arts group formed by residents at the THK Home for the Disabled at Eunos.
Beyond performances, visitors can enjoy the culinary delights at The Good Bites Market.
This year, it features a curated selection of five gourmet pop-up experiences that supports the non-profit organisation, AWWA.

The proceeds will support the Enabled Living @ Bedok programme, a pilot initiative to empower individuals with disabilities in independent living.
Expect to see MBS’ signature restaurants such as Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer, Bread Street Kitchen and RISE offering specially-priced gourmet treats and beverages for hungry festivalgoers.

Additionally, famed Brooklyn Pizza house Roberta’s Pizza and Café Nesuto will be joining the Festival to raise funds with their signature pizzas, pastas and western delights.
From signature juicy burgers, festival exclusives and local hawker favourites, the market is the perfect hotspot for every type of taste buds.
And if you’re looking for some movement after enjoying all that good food, the Impact Match game booth might just be for you.
The interactive game gets participants to create digital school packs containing essential school supplies.

For each successful digital school pack, MBS will match it and send it to students at NorthLight School.
Each pack will be used to support their holistic development and provide financial assistance to those in need.

Meanwhile, those who are looking to burn even more calories for a good cause can look to the annual Community Chest Heartstrings Walk and Race to the Sky Vertical Marathon.
On 29 Aug, participants can take a scenic walk around Marina Bay or take on the challenge to climb 57 storeys to the iconic SkyPark Observation Deck.
Co-organised by MBS and Community Chest, the marathon holds a series of fun and challenging activities across the the picturesque Singapore landscape in support of more than 300 critical social service programmes across Singapore.

It is the perfect activity for family, friends or individuals looking to take on a physical challenge to support communities in Singapore.
But if you’re looking for something more low-key, The Giving Marketplace is the spot for picking out the cutest handicrafts made by various communities across Singapore.

The marketplace features 12 local non-profits, social enterprises and small business such as APSN, Cat Welfare Society and Teddy Thotz.
Additionally, Carer, a daycare centre that provides physical care and activities for seniors, is participating for the first-time at the marketplace.
With a plethora of stalls, visitors are bound to find the cause they want to support, while bringing back a piece of that memory home.
Beyond the Event Plaza weekend, the public can also participate in charitable opportunities through Dine For Good.
From 1 to 30 Aug, the month-long campaign dedicates its proceeds from selected dishes to support AWWA’s programme.

To commemorate the 12th festival, 12 signature and celebrity chef restaurants at MBS have each selected a hallmark dish for the campaign to support communities in need.

Diners can savour celebrated favourites from participating restaurants, including LAVO’s sweet and velvety Reginette Seafood Alfredo, Yardbird’s crispy Chicken & Waffles and more savoury favourites for a good cause.

Furthermore, Miracle Coffee is debuting a KIKU-inspired cake in collaboration with MBS’ pastry team. Crafted with vibrant notes of matcha and yuzu, the cake will be exclusively available from 10 to 30 Aug.
From July to Aug, MBS has been contributing to local communities with their 12,000-strong volunteer workforce.

The team has been contributing their time to volunteering initiatives for organisations such as MINDS, AWWA and Cycling Without Age Singapore.

In addition, they assembled 30,000 hygiene kits for communities in Singapore and the Philippines through the Sands Cares Hygiene Kit Build initiative, in partnership with Clean the World in late July.
