Workers’ Party (WP) chief Pritam Singh attended a Hungry Ghost Festival event at an HDB block in Bedok last Friday (28 Aug).
He impressed residents and netizens alike by singing a Hokkien song live, drawing a resounding round of applause.

Mr Singh dropped in on the event at Block 147 Bedok Reservoir Road on 28 Aug. Residents were holding the religious event in the void deck at the time.
Grateful for these small events which are central to life in Singapore!
Mr Singh’s post was fairly scarce on information, but a nearby resident captured footage of him giving a performance of a Hokkien song.

The video, uploaded to Singapore Incidents on 30 Aug, appeared to have been taken from the second-storey corridor of the neighbouring block.
Mr Singh belted out a performance of ‘愛拼才會贏’ by Taiwanese singer Yeh Chi-tien.
On the direction of a presumed organiser, he gradually emerged from the void deck into the carpark with a mic in hand.

Many residents eagerly filmed his performance before breaking out into applause and cheers when the song ended.
He waved at those present, while an organiser told him, “Thank you very much!”

His singing impressed the netizens too, especially because it was a Hokkien song.

After mingling with the residents, Mr Singh stated that he also discussed Eunos’ Mid-Autumn Festival event, which will take place on 19 Sept near Block 137 Bedok Reservoir Road.
