Bus driver finds purse with cash inside, returns it to passenger

A passenger who left her purse containing S$1,200 in cash on bus service 72 got it back on the same day, everything intact.

This was thanks to the efforts of its bus captain, said Go-Ahead Singapore in a Facebook post on Friday (14 Aug).

Mr Er Soon Beng had found the lost purse containing S$1,200 in cash while on duty, said Go-Ahead.

According to photos shared by the transport operator, the red purse was found at about 6.30am on Wednesday (12 Aug).

It also contained items such as an identity card, various bank cards and a lottery ticket.

Bus captain hands purse to passenger service office

Without hesitation, Mr Er secured the purse and followed lost-and-found protocols, Go-Ahead said.

This included handing it to the passenger service office, ensuring it was safe for the owner to claim.

The Interchange Support Officer then contacted the owner.

She was reunited with her purse on the same day.

Bus captain praised for integrity

Go-Ahead praised Mr Er’s “quick thinking and integrity” and for upholding the company’s standards of service, saying:

We’re incredibly proud to have team members who embody our values of honesty and care.

On Friday, he was personally thanked by Senior Operations Manager Hock Chuan and Operations Director Kastriot.

Go-Ahead said it believes that “looking after our commuters goes beyond the journey”.

Thus, it’s “honoured” to have team members like Mr Er, who “embody our commitment to service and trust”, it added.
