The clip originated from TikTok user @hohoho.talks as part of a series of where the Singaporean talks about love in the Lion City.
In the clip, the Singaporean referenced an article from 2024 which stated that “37% of marriages in Singapore involved a Singaporean marrying a foreigner”.
This figure is corroborated by state statistics which say that transnational marriages make up 37% of all marriages in 2025.

“It’s not surprising, our system produced men and women who are on equal footing,” wrote the commenter.
“But equal is not good enough for these women.”
As such, Singaporean men are forced to look elsewhere as “they are deemed to be not enough”.
