SIA’s New Guidelines Include Care Kits & Disinfection, As We Travel Amid Covid-19

Singapore Airlines Share New Passenger Guidelines For Travel Amid Covid-19

Since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, air travel came to a screeching halt as nations shut their borders one by one.

However, the situation has since improved, and Singapore is gradually starting to extend green lanes with other countries for essential business travel.

And although it’ll still be a while before leisure flights continue, Singapore Airlines has offered passengers a look into what the new SIA-experience is like in a Covid-19 world.

Airport safety measures

For starters, passengers need to wear masks upon reaching the airport, which will frequently be cleaned and disinfected.

They will have their temperatures taken, and can opt to use the hand sanitisers available throughout the venue.

Singapore Airlines will alternate check-in counters, to ensure that passengers are safely distanced from each other. And while not a new feature, travellers can check-in online to reduce human contact.

Unfortunately, this means that in-flight sales will no longer be available. However, passengers can still order KrisShop items online, and have it delivered on-board, or to their doorsteps.

Prior to boarding, they can also download complimentary newspapers and magazines from the e-library on the SingaporeAir mobile app.

Disinfection and decreased contact

In line with hygiene guidelines, cabin crew will don personal protective equipment (PPE), and cabins and lavatories will be thoroughly disinfected.

Planes also come equipped with HEPA filters, and air is refreshed every 2-3 minutes.

To reduce contact with commonly touched surfaces, passengers can use their phones to remotely control the in-flight entertainment system.

There will also be dedicated seating zones for transit and non-transit passengers.

During the flight

As for freebies, Singapore Airlines will distribute care kits that come with wet wipes, hand sanitiser and a face mask.

Passengers will also be given fresh headrests, pillow covers, bed sheets and blankets.

While adjustments are still being made to F&B service, passengers heading to Southeast Asia and China will receive snack bags due to regulations.

Keeping in line with the Covid-19 world

Given the interconnectedness of the world, flying is something we cannot do without. Be it for business or leisure, air travel has become a pillar in today’s society.

Hopefully, with new guidelines in place, we can continue to fly safely amid the Covid-19 landscape.

Kudos to Singapore Airlines for going above and beyond to make flying safe again.
