Singapore reported its 6th Covid-19 death on Saturday (4 Apr), just 1 day after the nation announced its 5th casualty from the infectious coronavirus.
The patient was reportedly an 88-year-old man with multiple pre-existing health conditions like diabetes and cancer.
He was a Singaporean permanent resident and had no recent travel history to other countries with a severe outbreak.
According to Channel NewsAsia (CNA), the patient succumbed to the infection at around 5.41am on Saturday (4 Apr).
He apparently tested positive for the new coronavirus on Sunday (29 Mar) and was warded at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on Monday (30 Mar).
The elderly patient had been receiving medical care in the intensive care unit since then but later developed severe complications which eventually led to his demise, reports CNA.
As previously mentioned, the deceased had many pre-existing health conditions:
The deceased’s information matches that of Case 855, linked to the Singapore Cricket Club cluster announced yesterday. This, however, has not been confirmed by the authorities.
MS News would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. May he rest in peace.
We hope this highlights once again the severity of the outbreak and the importance for everybody to comply and adhere to precautionary measures implemented by the government.
