The pouring rain on Tuesday (22 Sept) afternoon did little to dampen the flames of a car that caught fire in Tampines, according to several videos recorded by motorists.
All the clips showed that the white car had stopped just before a road junction and was soon consumed by the inferno.

In a video posted by @sgfollowsall on Instagram that was recorded by a passing motorist, flames leapt from the car’s bonnet, but the rest of the vehicle had not yet been scorched.
The boot of the car was observed to be open.

In the caption, the original poster (OP) said they had seen smoke when they stopped at the traffic light, after which the car “exploded”.
A video posted on TikTok depicted the car being engulfed in its entirety by the blaze.
This created a large black plume of smoke that defied the downpour.

In another TikTok video, the conflagration had spread to the car’s interior and its body was starting to be blackened.

Its driver was nowhere to be seen in the videos.
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at about 5.45pm on Tuesday.
It took place near the junction of Tampines Road and Tampines Avenue 10, and involved a car.
SCDF extinguished the fire using a water jet and a hosereel, with no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
