2 delivery men seen throwing packages to each other from parked Lalamove van to HDB void deck

Delivery staff seen throwing packages from parked Lalamove van to HDB void deck

Two delivery staff were seen throwing packages to each other while making a delivery at an HDB block, in a TikTok video uploaded on 30 Aug.

Delivery men caught on video throwing packages

The one-minute clip was posted by TikTok user @kzdny with the caption: “Parcel delivery x basketball training!

In the video, a Lalamove-branded van could be seen parked in an open-air car park near an HDB block.

Two delivery staff appeared to be unloading packages from the parked van to the void deck of the nearby block.

One of the delivery staff was seen throwing packages towards his colleague, who was positioned at the void deck.

They did this for several packages, with some items falling to the ground as the colleague was unable to catch them properly.

It was also unclear from the video if any of the packages were damaged during the process.

Netizens also upset by mishandling of packages

The video has since drawn attention for the way the packages were seemingly mishandled by the delivery staff.

One netizen said it was also “no wonder” that most of their packages were “always dented”.

A shocked TikTok user also said they would avoid “such a mover” in the future, to which another netizen replied that all couriers are the same.

A commenter also felt that the delivery staff were disrespecting customers and urged platform suppliers to boycott such service providers.

Another netizen also wondered why they weren’t able to nicely move the packages using a trolley.

Delivery staff allegedly had trolleys but didn’t use them

The OP, who wished to remain anonymous, told MS News that the incident happened on 29 Aug at around 2.30pm.

“Recently, they started sorting a huge load of packages at this Jurong West HDB void deck daily,” they said.

The OP also shared that they were amused by the situation because it was “absurd”.

“They had trolleys and could have loaded the items onto them and pushed them to the void deck, but instead, they decided to throw the items one by one,” the OP shared.

They also said that this was not the first time. According to the OP, they sometimes have a large bag of packages, which they do carry to the void deck for sorting.

Lalamove is aware and looking into the incident

In response to MS News’ queries, Lalamove said it is aware of the video circulating online and takes the matter seriously.

“We are currently looking into the matter to better understand the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a spokesperson for Lalamove said.

As the vehicle cannot be conclusively identified from the footage, Lalamove is unable to confirm whether the individual was making a Lalamove delivery at the time. Driver partners may also undertake deliveries independently outside the platform.

Regardless, Lalamove expects driver-partners to handle parcels with care and professionalism.

The handling shown in the video falls short of these standards, which Lalamove reinforces through guidelines and ongoing reminders.

“We will take appropriate action should any breach of our standards be identified.”
