Youth in M’sia brutally attacked by 3 men in restaurant over ‘brief glance’

Youth attacked after brief exchange of eye contact in restaurant

A youth in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, has been brutally attacked by three individuals on 7 May.

The fight reportedly erupted while he was dining at a Bak Kut Teh restaurant at 2am. The youth was seated at an outdoor table when he briefly looked at a noisy group inside the restaurant.

The trio then took offence and confronted him.

Attackers used metal kettle and plastic chairs to assault him

In CCTV footage that has since gone viral, a man in a blue shirt can be seen standing up, pointing at the youth, and charging towards him.

Two accomplices followed. They shoved the youth to the ground and dragged him inside the restaurant.

For the next few minutes, the victim was subjected to violence.

The attackers used teacups, a kettle, and plastic chairs to assault him further.

Showed no restraint despite victim’s pleas

Despite the youth’s repeated pleas for mercy, the attackers showed no restraint.

The scene turned chaotic, with terrified staff and diners fleeing as the restaurant became a mess of broken crockery and spilt soup.

In the video, the victim can be seen struggling to stand as he walks away from the attackers, his face bloodied and dishevelled.

 

Suspects arrested and remain under remand

In a statement on 10 May, the head of Sentul police ACP Basri Sagoni revealed more information about the incident.

He said that the suspect was “drunk and unhappy at being looked at”. As such, he proceeded to attack the victim.

The suspects involved in the assault have been apprehended and are currently under remand until 14 May to assist with further investigations, reports Sinar Harian.

Investigations are ongoing.
