This isn’t Wilde’s first taste of world-record glory.
Back in March, she claimed the title for the longest plank held by a woman, clocking in at an awe-inspiring 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds.
Discovered love for push-ups during plank prep
It was during Wilde’s plank training that she discovered her love for push-ups.
She said she’d do 500 a day in preparation for the plank record attempt.
Her preparation paid off when she shattered the previous push-up record of 1,207, cruising past it with 17 minutes still on the clock, according to TODAY.
Despite being overwhelmed with emotion, Wilde wasn’t about to stop there — she powered through the remaining time, adding over 300 more push-ups to her total.
“I had to fight back the happy tears and emotions and keep going,” she said. “I still felt quite strong and I was aiming for a high number of push ups to complete in the next 17 minutes.”
Pushed through even with dislocated shoulder
Wilde had plenty of cheerleaders on hand for her record-breaking push-up attempt.
11 of her 12 grandchildren were there, cheering her on, and one of them even made a handmade poster proudly declaring: “My grandma is officially amazing!!!”
Each push-up had to meet strict standards: 90-degree elbow flexion at the bottom and full arm extension at the top.
Despite feeling her shoulder dislocate — before popping back in — near the end, Wilde powered through to finish strong.
After celebrating with her family, she shared: “I believe that if we stay active and have health and wellness goals we can age gracefully and powerfully.”
