A 40-year-old man has been identified over the alleged assault of an elderly man on Saturday (15 Aug) afternoon, said the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in response to MS News‘ queries.
Investigations are ongoing over the incident, where the uncle was allegedly pushed to the ground at a coffeeshop along East Coast Road.

SPF had earlier confirmed to MS News that a report was lodged over the incident.
The police have identified a 40-year-old man in relation to an incident involving the assault of a 73-year-old man at about 4.40pm on 15 Aug, SPF said, adding:
Members of the public are advised not to speculate on the incident or its circumstances, and to allow the police to conduct investigations and establish the facts of the case.
According to CCTV footage by Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle, located in Roxy Square along East Coast Road, the elderly father of the stall’s proprietor had patted the head of a young girl as he hobbled past a table.

This led to an aggressive intervention by the girl’s father, who was seen grabbing the elderly man by his arm, then shoving him aside, causing him to fall.

Though the younger man later apologised, the elderly man’s family was upset by the encounter, saying their father suffered severe back pain from the incident.
They shared the footage as they sought help to identify the man and seek justice for their father.
In its latest post on Sunday (16 Aug) night, Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle expressed gratefulness to SPF for “promptness and efficiency” in identifying the man involved and escalating the matter so quickly.
It also thanked police officers for taking the case seriously and acting swiftly.
News of the man’s identification brought “tremendous relief and reassurance” to the family, it said, adding:
We have faith in the process and sincerely hope that justice will be served for my father.
