Pedestrian lies unconscious on the road after accident with car in Orchard area

A 79-year-old man died earlier this week after being involved in an accident with a car in the Orchard Road area.

A photo posted in a Facebook group for PHV drivers showed a Traffic Police signboard appealing for witnesses to the accident, which took place at 6.43am on Tuesday (11 Aug).

Paramedic attends to pedestrian, car stopped nearby

Another photo depicted a man lying motionless on the road next to the divider.

A woman who appeared to be a paramedic attended to him, with a stretcher nearby.

Behind the stretcher was a man wearing a pair of sunglasses on his forehead.

In a third photo, a dark-coloured Honda car had stopped by the roadside.

Pedestrian dies & car driver arrested after Orchard accident

In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it was alerted to the accident at about 6.45am on 11 Aug.

It took place along Grange Road in the direction of Orchard Link, and involved a car and a pedestrian.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), which was alerted at the same time, told MS News that it happened at the junction of Grange Road and Paterson Road.

A 79-year-old male pedestrian was sent to the hospital in an unconscious state, SPF noted. SCDF conveyed him to Singapore General Hospital.

However, he subsequently passed away there.

Additionally, a 46-year-old male car driver has been arrested for driving without due care and attention causing death.

Police investigations are ongoing.
