Noah Yap finds elderly uncle involved in East Coast coffeeshop altercation in good spirits, criticises man who pushed him

Local actor Noah Yap provided an update on the elderly man who was pushed to the floor of an East Coast coffeeshop.

The victim refused to seek medical attention and, according to Mr Yap, he is in high spirits and back at work.

Elderly man allegedly suffered severe back pain from being pushed in coffeeshop

On the afternoon of 15 Aug, the proprietor of Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle posted CCTV footage of the incident involving their father, a man in his 70s.

The elderly man had patted a young girl on the head as he walked past the table where she and her family were sitting.

Subsequently, the girl’s father angrily confronted the man before pushing him to the ground.

According to the stall owner, the victim allegedly suffered from “severe back pain” as a result.

On 16 Aug, Noah Yap, of ‘Ah Boys to Men’ fame, visited Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle and found the elderly man already back at work.

“Uncle is doing well, but he still very stubbornly refuses to see a doctor. Can y’all convince him to go?!” Mr Yap wrote.

Noah Yap criticises man who pushed victim in East Coast coffeeshop

Despite the altercation, Mr Yap said the elderly man is currently in good spirits and is his “usual chirpy self”.

It’s so heartwarming to see that while I was at Uncle’s stall, there were so many people coming up to him to check up on him and show love.

Mr Yap declared Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle as having the best wanton mee in Singapore. He told people who wanted to support the uncle to visit the stall in Roxy Square.

Furthermore, Mr Yap criticised the violence used by the girl’s father and hoped he could be brought to “justice”.

The stall owner had previously stated that their father did not want to pursue the matter further.

That is the kind of person my father is. Even after being hurt, his first instinct was to let the matter go and not cause further trouble.

Although the man had apologised, the stall owner did not feel it was enough to cover for the physical pain their father was experiencing.

Victim’s family thanks public for overwhelming support

In an update on 16 Aug, the stall reiterated that the family would continue pursuing the matter until it had been dealt with under the law.

They asked members of the public to come forward if they had any information on the individuals involved in the incident.

The stall owner also thanked everyone for the overwhelming show of support and encouragement.

In a moment that has made me feel incredibly helpless and heartbroken, your kindness has reminded me that there are still so many good people out there.
