Member of Parliament (MP) for Tampines GRC Baey Yam Keng visited a resident who was injured in a fatal road accident along Tampines Avenue 12 on 29 Oct.
In a Facebook post on 3 Nov, Mr Baey said he had visited the resident, Mira, together with grassroot leaders.
Mira was driving a car belonging to her father when it was hit by a deregistered car driven by a man under driving disqualification.
The man has since been arrested and charged, Mr Baey said.

He added that he was relieved Mira did not sustain any serious physical injuries in the accident.
However, she is currently seeking psychiatric treatment to cope with the trauma she experienced.
The accident has also affected her family financially and practically, as the car was badly damaged and scrapped.
According to Mr Baey, this particularly impacted Mira’s father as he needed the car to travel to Jurong Island for work.
During the visit, they discussed the family’s needs, including obtaining legal advice and assistance with insurance claims.
Mr Baey said he hoped the referrals made would help the family receive the necessary assistance soon.

He also wished Mira a smooth and speedy recovery, while expressing his condolences to the family of the couple who lost their lives in the accident.
Mr Baey also sought a meeting with relevant agencies to explore measures to prevent similar accidents.
The post has since struck a chord with netizens, some of whom urged the government to look out for the deceased couple’s child.
A netizen asked how the child of the deceased couple was coping with the loss of both parents in the accident.
