On Thursday (2 Apr), Singapore confirmed 49 new Covid-19 cases, with 8 of them imported cases and 41 of them new local cases.
This is a drop from the all-time high of 74 cases reported the day before.
We now have a total of 1,049 confirmed cases, with 21 more cases discharged from hospital, meaning 266 have fully recovered, the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported.
MOH also reported that of the 41 local cases on Thursday (2 Apr):
There are a total of 118 cases that are locally transmitted, but are not linked so far to previous cases, nor have do they have any travel history to affected regions. Contact tracing is underway.
Of the 464 cases still warded, 23 are in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while 4 have died.
315 have been isolated and sent to Concord International Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital and the Community Isolation Facility at D’Resort NTUC as they are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.
The 3 new clusters are at:
2. A construction site at Maxwell MRT station, with 2 new cases (cases 1009 and 1034). They join 3 previous cases (cases 869, 900 and 1000) for a total of 5 cases.
3. Keppel Shipyard, with 3 previously confirmed cases (cases 878, 898 and 907).
For some reason, more healthcare workers are being infected.
The latest is a 26-year-old female Singaporean who presented symptoms on 20 March, and tested positive for Covid-19 on 1 Apr.
She is case 1028, and is a healthcare attendant at the Institute of Mental Health but did not go to work when she displayed symptoms.
She is hospitalised at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).
The good news is that the number of imported cases has dropped, with the number of new imported cases about 16% of the number of new cases on Thursday (2 Apr).
The 8 imported cases had travel history to Europe, North America, ASEAN and other parts of Asia.
MS News wishes the infected patients a speedy recovery from the disease.
