Singapore Confirms 66 New Covid-19 Cases, Bringing National Tally To 1,375 On 6 Apr

On Monday (6 Apr), Singapore confirmed 66 new Covid-19 cases, with 65 of them new local cases and just one imported case.

This is a drop from the massive number of 120 cases reported the day before.

We now have a total of 1,375 confirmed cases, with 24 cases discharged, meaning 344 have fully recovered, the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported.

30 new local cases have no links

MOH also reported that of the 65 local cases on Monday (6 Apr):

  • 30 cases are currently unlinked.
  • 35 cases are linked to clusters or previous cases, of which:
  • 24 cases were linked foreign worker dormitories, and
  • 11 were linked to non-dormitory clusters.

571 cases still in hospital

Of the 571 cases still warded, 25 are in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while 6 have died.

454 have been isolated and sent to Concord International Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital and the Community Isolation Facility at D’Resort NTUC as they are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

2 new clusters discovered

The 2 new clusters are at:

  1. Little Gems Preschool at 3, Ang Mo Kio Street 62. It was found when one of the new cases (case 1335) was linked to two previous cases (cases 1182 and 1294).

2. Kranji Lodge, at 12, Kranji Lodge. The workers’ dormitory has been linked to 3 earlier cases (cases 880, 1190 and 1241).

The largest cluster in Singapore

The outbreak at S11 Dormitory @ Punggol at 2, Seletar North Link is showing no signs of slowing down, with 25 additional cases found.

That brings the total number of cases confirmed at the workers’ dormitory to 88 — the largest cluster in Singapore so far.

Heartening to know that the number of imported cases is down

The heartening news is the sharp drop in the number of imported cases has dropped, with just 1 reported on Monday (6 Apr).

However, we must now focus our attention on bringing the number of locally transmitted cases down.
