A 3-year-old boy died after allegedly being stabbed by his father in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, on Friday (28 Aug).
Police are still searching for the 29-year-old suspect, who remains at large.
At around 1am on the day of the incident, the child’s grandmother and aunt heard the father and child arguing.
However, at around 11am, she noticed that her grandchild had still not come out of the bedroom for breakfast.

She then decided to check on the boy and found him wrapped in a blanket. When she unfolded it, she found that the boy’s chest was covered in blood.
The boy was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
He reportedly sustained a stab wound to the chest, as well as broken ribs.
It was believed that the father left the scene immediately after committing the crime.
Police reportedly did not recover the weapon used to fatally stab the boy, but found the suspect’s bloodied clothes at the scene.
The family has filed a case against the victim’s father, whom the authorities are still searching for.
The police also revealed that the suspect had previously been admitted to a rehabilitation centre for alcohol and tobacco use and was released in 2025.
