Man allegedly slashes wife with machete following fight over loud TV volume

A man allegedly slashed his wife in her 70s with a machete during a dispute over the television’s loud volume on 6 Sept.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm in their home in Taman Desa Sejahtera, Kota Tinggi, Johor.

Victim turning up TV’s volume triggered incident

Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said police arrived at the scene after receiving a report from the public.

They then arrested the victim’s husband, who is also in his 70s.

According to initial investigations, the victim turning up the volume on the television had prompted the incident.

The husband, who was intoxicated at the time, then took a machete and slashed her once on her right hand, Chief Yusof said.

Victim sustains minor injury

The woman suffered a one-centimetre cut on her right hand.

Her condition was found to be stable after being taken to Kota Tinggi Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury with a weapon.
