A passenger in the Philippines was moved after discovering that his e-hailing driver was offering free rides to dialysis and cancer patients travelling to and from the hospital.
The driver had also left a simple “stay strong” message for patients undergoing treatment.

The passenger shared the encounter in a Facebook post on 24 Aug, earning the unidentified driver praise from netizens for his thoughtful gesture.
The original poster (OP) said he was taking a Grab to meet a friend in Bonifacio Global City a couple of days earlier when he noticed a sign attached to the back of the driver’s seat.
At first, he assumed it was an advertisement. But after taking a closer look, he realised the driver was offering free rides to passengers undergoing dialysis or cancer treatment.

“I [realised] this driver was different,” the OP wrote.
He was someone willing to help others in their time of need without asking for anything in return.
According to the sign, passengers simply have to let the driver know that they are a dialysis or cancer patient.
If they are travelling to or from the hospital, he will waive the fare.
At the bottom of the sign was another simple message for those going through treatment: “Stay strong.”
What made the gesture stand out even more to the OP was the difficult weather that day.
He recalled that rain was pouring heavily, making it hard for passengers to find a ride, while drivers who remained on the road had to contend with floods and traffic as they continued working to support their families.
Against that backdrop, the driver’s willingness to give up a fare for someone in need left an impression on him.
Seeing this driver who was willing to help another person (probably in their most dire situation) even if it meant not getting paid, really put things into perspective for me.
The OP added that while acts of kindness should not be done for recognition, seeing them in others can still be worth sharing.
By highlighting gestures like this, he hoped more people might be inspired to find their own ways to help, or simply choose kindness when the opportunity arises.
The unnamed driver’s gesture also resonated with netizens in the comments, many of whom praised him for helping patients despite the demands and costs of his own job.
Translation: These kinds of people are so inspiring. Even when they face problems when driving and are tired and sleepless, they still manage to offer free rides for those in need. Salute to you, brother driver. May the Lord bless you.

Some felt local authorities could take a cue from the driver by providing free transport for patients travelling for treatment.
Translation: This is what each neighbourhood should do, give free rides. If a regular person can do it… God bless you.

Others pointed out that the offer was especially meaningful given the cost of fuel.
Translation: With gas prices this high, indeed, I hope the Lord blesses these kinds of people.

Several commenters who had undergone treatment themselves, or had family members who had, also shared similar experiences of public transport drivers refusing payment after learning about their condition.
Translation: Oh this touched me. My sibling has lupus and undergoes dialysis. We have also taken many rides where we were told not to pay. Thank you, sir. God bless.
