Students beat up father who tried to confront daughter’s alleged bully

A video recently surfaced showing a father getting into a physical altercation with students over bullying in Australia.

The incident occurred on 24 Aug at Wollert Secondary College, located just north of Melbourne.

Accused student allegedly not involved in bullying

The footage shows the older man confronting a group of Year 7 students, claiming they bullied his daughter.

The father also allegedly threatened to slash a boy’s throat before things turned violent.

However, the student he threatened is purportedly not involved in the bullying, New York Post reported.

According to 7NEWS, another boy, who is trained in martial arts, then began bashing the father, who was thrown to the ground by another male student.

Conflict spills onto the road

When the father was thrown to the ground, his body made impact with a female bystander, who was squeezed against a fence.

The boy trained in martial arts then landed several blows on the man’s face before a teacher stepped in to break the fight.

Two other videos show the fight continuing onto the nearby road and bus stop.

Police were called to respond to the incident. However, no complaints reportedly were filed.

Fight left parents concerned over safety

Following the incident, calls were made to overhaul the schooling system. Education expert Adam Voight of the organisation Real Schools said:

“This is an example of a culture where we’ve become so adversarial, we’ve become so determined to get our own way, we’ve become so determined that vengeance is the only right here, that we’ve stopped learning how to collaborate as an instinct.”

Furthermore, parents of students at the school expressed concern over how the father took matters into his own hands.

They said the father should have approached the school first, allowing teachers and staff to step in.

It is unclear what injuries either party suffered or if the bullying situation has been addressed.
