A female teacher in her 30s was reportedly arrested in Malaysia after an alleged illicit relationship with a 17-year-old male student came to light.
According to Harian Metro, the relationship was discovered on 21 Sept, after the teenager’s family and school found a video showing the two engaging in sexual acts.
The relationship is believed to have begun last year, with the two allegedly meeting several times at hotels, as well as at the teacher’s residence.
A source said the student claimed that the teacher initially invited him out for a walk and a meal before taking him to a hotel in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

She allegedly engaged in sexual acts with him on multiple occasions and recorded the encounters using a mobile phone.
After the video was discovered, the student and the school reportedly lodged police reports.
The teacher was subsequently arrested at around 10.30pm that same day in the Bandar Kinrara area, according to the source.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of Malaysia’s Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
At the time of Harian Metro’s report, the publication was still seeking confirmation from the police.
Meanwhile, Director-General of Education Datuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad told Berita Harian that teachers accused of having illicit relationships with students or sexually harassing them will be removed from their schools while investigations are ongoing.

They will instead be placed at a District Education Office or State Education Department.
Dr Mohd Azam said this is an initial measure by the Ministry of Education to ensure that the teacher no longer has contact with students while the investigation is ongoing.
If a police report is lodged and the case reaches the court mention stage, the teacher may be suspended from duty and receive half of their salary.
“Once a sentence has been handed down and if [the teacher is] found guilty, the teacher will be subject to the punishment imposed by the court,” Dr Mohd Azam said.
The ministry may also take disciplinary action against the teacher, including dismissal, following the court proceedings.
Dr Mohd Azam said these measures are part of the ministry’s standard procedure for cases of this nature.
