Motorcyclist on KJE crushed by truck’s wheels
On Wednesday morning (23 Oct), a motorcyclist travelling on the Kranji Expressway (KJE) was crushed under a truck’s wheels in a traffic accident.
Footage of the accident showed that a lorry had knocked the rider into the path of an oncoming trailer truck while changing lanes.
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it was alerted to the accident at about 7am. The accident occurred on a two-lane stretch along KJE towards PIE, before the Senja Road exit.
A paramedic pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.

Camcar footage of the accident revealed the moments leading up to the fatal accident.
At the beginning of the clip, multiple motorcyclists were splitting the lane between a white lorry in the first lane and a large truck in the second lane.

The lorry had its left signal light on but was unable to filter into the second lane.
Around 20 seconds into the video, the lorry abruptly veered to the left, ramming into a motorcyclist.

The impact toppled the rider and the motorcycle, plunging both under the oncoming truck.
Netizens in shock over horrifying accident
In response to the accident, many netizens warned about the dangers of lane splitting between heavy vehicles.
One Facebook user speculated that the white lorry driver abruptly slammed the brakes to “avoid hitting [the] car in front” before changing lanes without checking.
“Bikers for this type of situation [have] no time to react,” added the netizen.

Meanwhile, another user cautioned motorcyclists to “never stay between two trucks”.
They also noted that the accident could have been “much worse” considering the number of motorcyclists in the footage.

Meanwhile, one user pointed out that the motorcyclists had all “ignored” the signal from the lorry driver.
In a statement to MS News, the police said that a 24-year-old male lorry driver has been arrested for careless driving causing death.
The deceased is a 52-year-old male. Investigations are ongoing.
