Woman crossing Orchard Road gets hit by car & sent flying, taken to hospital
A woman crossing Orchard Road ended up being hit by a car in a terrifying accident.
The incident occurred on 13 Nov at 3.14am, although the dashcam timestamp erroneously read 2.28am.
Speaking to MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) noted that the camcar was a taxi.
Footage of the accident has since circulated online. In it, the car could be seen approaching an intersection, with the traffic light showing green for the driver.

However, a woman happened to be crossing the road, seemingly a pedestrian crossing, at the same time.
From the video, she could be seen seemingly using her phone whilst unhurriedly crossing the road. It is unclear if the pedestrian crossing had indicated for her to cross the road.
Both the driver and pedestrian failed to notice one another until the last second.
The woman flinched in shock as the driver hit the brakes, but it was too late to avoid a collision.
The violent impact sent the pedestrian flying and flipping upside down, causing her to land on her head and back over a metre away.

“Aiyah!” a voice exclaimed from inside the taxi, followed by a string of cursing.
Woman conveyed conscious to hospital
The pedestrian managed to sit up and initially, she appeared to try to crawl towards her phone.
She then stopped and clutched the back of her head with her hand.
A man exited the car from the passenger side and rushed over to check on her.

Shortly after, an older man with white hair also alighted. The first man directed him back to the car, possibly to call for an ambulance.

During this, the woman collapsed backwards, covering her nose and mouth while the man talked to her.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told MS News that they were alerted to the accident at 3.15am at the junction of Orchard Road and Handy Road.
The police said to MS News that the SCDF had conveyed a 26-year-old female pedestrian to Tan Tock Seng Hospital in a conscious state.
They added that a 67-year-old taxi driver is assisting with ongoing investigations.
