SMRT Extends Operating Hours On All 3 MRT Lines
Catch-up sessions with relatives on Chinese New Year’s (CNY) Eve can be quite a hasty and rushed affair, especially for us budget conscious folks.
That’s because staying late may cause us to miss the train home and the alternative of taking a Grab can be quite costly, given the insane surge pricing.
Not to worry, SMRT announced on Friday (25 Jan) that it will be extending both its bus and train services on CNY’s Eve, which falls on 4 Feb this year.
You know what that means, you can stay and catch up with your relatives for as long as you want for CNY’s Eve this year!
Extended service for all 3 MRT lines
Train service across all 3 of SMRT’s MRT lines will be extended on CNY’s Eve. In case you’re not sure, these are the train lines managed by SMRT.
- North South Line (red)
- East West Line (green)
- Circle Line (yellow)
And here are the final departure timings for the various train lines.
Do note that the departure timings above occur in the early morning of 5 Feb.
The Bukit Panjang LRT service however will not be extended due to planned renewal works.
But not to worry if you’re staying in Choa Chu Kang, you can opt for a bus home instead, as you’ll soon see.
Extended bus service
SMRT understands that not everyone stays within walking distance of a MRT station, so they have kindly extended the operating hours for selected bus services too.
That’s not all, afternoon operating timing for several Express and City Direct bus services will also be brought forward — perfect for those keen on heading to town for some last-minute shopping. These services are:
