Dashcam driver slammed for not helping fallen motorcyclist
On Monday morning (28 Oct), a motorcyclist rear-ended an SUV while both vehicles were filtering into a busy Seletar Expressway (SLE).
A driver behind the motorcyclist caught the accident on their dashcam and submitted the video to SG Road Vigilante’s Facebook page.
The driver had shared the video in hopes of reminding road users to maintain safe distancing.
However, in a twist of events, netizens instead criticised the dashcam driver for not assisting the motorcyclist, who could be seen struggling to push the fallen motorcycle back up.
P-plate motorcyclist rear-ends SUV
The motorcyclist, who had a probation plate, had rear-ended the SUV in front of her after the merging traffic ahead of her stopped and she was unable to brake in time.
The abrupt braking had caused the motorbike to lose balance and topple to its left, bringing the motorcyclist down along with it.

While she appeared uninjured in the video, the rider visibly struggled to push the motorbike back on its wheels.
She had tilted the bike back up by its handlebars, and the motorbike slipped further from her a few times.
The SUV had moved to the road shoulder, and the driver came out to check the condition of the car but did not offer to assist the motorcyclist.
As the motorcyclist struggled to lift the motorbike back up, the dashcam car could be seen inching forward. Notably, the dashcam driver did not disembark to help the motorcyclist despite watching her struggle.
The rider ultimately succeeded in bringing the bike back up by herself and moved to the road shoulder, allowing merging traffic to resume.
Netizens criticise dashcam driver
The dashcam driver had uploaded the video to raise awareness of the importance of keeping a safe distance, but responses criticised him instead for not helping the rider.
One netizen left a sarcastic comment jabbing at the dashcam driver’s choice to watch the rider’s struggle instead of stepping out to help her.

Others point out that even if the motorcyclist had been at fault, the dashcam driver should still have helped her.
Nonetheless, there were also netizens who thought the motorcyclist might not be ready to handle the traffic at peak hours yet.
